INMATE DECLARED WANTED AFTER ESCAPE FOLLOWING ROAD CRASH IN YOBE..
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Yobe State Command, has declared a 30-year-old convicted inmate wanted after he escaped custody following a road accident involving a prison transport vehicle.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdullahi Adamu, the incident occurred while inmates were being transported from Potiskum to Damaturu.
The statement revealed that the vehicle conveying the inmates was involved in a crash, creating an opportunity for the inmate to escape.
Authorities have since launched a manhunt to recapture the fugitive, while efforts are ongoing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Command assured the public that security measures have been strengthened to prevent a recurrence and urged anyone with useful information about the escapee’s whereabouts to report to the nearest security agency.
